Jane’s Walk Atl Virtual Tours

Freedom Park is proud to be Atlanta’s City Organizer of Jane’s Walk ATL.  Jane’s Walk ATL  has been re-imagined for 2020!  The COVID-19 outbreak and unfolding response have dramatically reshaped our original vision for Jane’s Walk ATL programming.

In partnership with Emory University’s Center for Digital Scholarship, Freedom Park Conservancy,  is creating a virtual tour experience, via Emory’s Open Tour Builder.  This platform is an open-source app offering a unique opportunity for Atlantans to create their own city tours aimed at connecting with their fellow neighbors and exploring the unique stories that define our amazing city.  These digital tours are available to the public and FPC will add new virtual tours throughout 2020.

Freedom Park is proud to announce the very first Jane’s Walk Atlanta Virtual Tour of 2020.  The Early Edgewood-Candler Park BiRacial History Project.   The project focus is to :

  • Increase awareness of African American History in Candler Park, Atlanta.
  • Research the history with others including their descendant families.
  • Place interpretive legacy markers at key African American sites in the neighborhood.

The web based app is intended for use with smart phones while retracing the African American Markers in Candler Park.  However it works with tablets and desktops.  Click through the pictures by swiping to the right or clicking the arrow.  Also, click the links for more information and understanding.

Contact us at info@freedompark.org if you are interested in creating your own tour.
