Tree Walks

Freedom Park Conservancy & Trees Atlanta invite you to join us for a walking tour to explore the park, its history, and the trees that live there

Join us in celebrating the 27th anniversary of the creation of Freedom Park, one of our largest parks, and the official art park of the City of Atlanta. The Carter Center sits at the center of the park, and we’ll explore how the park connects to many local amenities, including the Beltline, while enjoying the art installations along the trail. Trees Atlanta docent, Alison Mawle, will assist attendees in identifying some of the many native trees that make up our urban forest.
The path is paved and flat, and is about 1.5 miles, so the tour will last approximately 90 minutes.

To be ready for the tour, here are the important logistics:

Walking Shoes:

We are going to be doing a city walk, so please wear comfortable shoes. We will be walking less than a mile at a relaxed pace with time to stop and examine. We expect the tour to be 90-minutes.

Weather:

Come prepared to be outdoors. We will evaluate the weather and announce a shift to the rain date 24 hours prior to our date, if needed.

Meeting point:

We will meet at the Peace Bell structure located at the Jimmy Carter Presidential Museum and Library. There is plenty of parking, just follow directions to the Carter Center and look for the cypress bell tower building, built in the style of Japanese temples. The structure is right next to the circular drive at the center of the Carter Center parking area.
