What's Next?
Upcoming opportunities to volunteer, donate, and learn more about the park.
The completed master plan is our guiding vision as we move into the next chapter of Freedom Park. Taken together, the principles laid out within re-position Freedom Park as an equitable, culturally rich, and civic-minded urban park within the City of Atlanta.
Our Park needs you
Freedom Park Conservancy is a non-profit organization and depends on individual donations from people like you.
Freedom is our park.
Freedom Park has become Atlanta’s most connected park, linking together seven of the city’s most historic and desirable neighborhoods—Candler Park, Inman Park, Old Fourth Ward, Poncey-Highland, Virginia Highland, Druid Hills, and Lake Claire. Little Five Points, an off-beat and thriving business district is nestled between the parks western and southern legs. Located a few miles east of Downtown Atlanta, Georgia, Freedom Park’s 130+ acres boast eight miles of gently curving paths for walking, jogging, and bicycling.
Freedom Park is aptly book-ended by National Parks sites dedicated to Jimmy Carter and Martin Luther King Jr., two American treasures and national leaders, both awarded the Nobel Prize for Peace. The park overlays the first completed section of the Atlanta BeltLine, connecting community business and neighborhood assets with ease.
The vision for the Conservancy is to continue to develop the park into an innovative green space celebrated for its inspiring origin and beauty—for all of Atlanta and the world to enjoy.
Things to do
Elder Project
Freedom Park Conservancy is excited to announce the installation of ELDER, a site-specific public art project by lead artist Masud Olufani, in commemoration of the restoration of historic David T. Howard Middle School in Atlanta’s Old Fourth Ward neighborhood, and in partnership with Atlanta Public Schools and Parrish Construction Group.
Virtual Tours
Freedom Park Conservancy is proud to be Atlanta’s City Organizer of Jane’s Walk ATL, a festival of volunteer-led “walking conversations” inspired by urban activist Jane Jacobs. Jane’s Walk ATL has been re-imagined for 2020! The COVID-19 outbreak and unfolding response have dramatically reshaped our original vision for Jane’s Walk ATL programming.
