Wrap Up – History Afoot Tour

We Had A Blast on our History Afoot Tour on Sunday, February 25th.

To celebrate John Lewis’ birthday we hosted a walk with History Afoot Atlanta to see our park neighborhood in new ways. We are lucky to have the Park anchored by connections to legends like Martin Luther King, John Lewis and Jimmy Carter but the walk included stories of the ways neighborhood residents have long reflected the same values of civic engagement.
Have you ever stopped along the path to see the murals created by artist Lynn Marshall-Linnemeir? Our murals celebrate the stories of women who worked in the Civil Rights movement around the south. Look for the information panel on a post to learn more about who is pictured. The panel is easy to see if you are walking or biking westbound.
The Freedom Park neighborhood has long been a space of energetic and passionate citizens working to make their community better!
Thanks to History Afoot for partnering with Freedom Park Conservancy to share the history of our park and neighborhoods.
