A Tribute to Beloved Board Member and Friend Nancy Boyd

Freedom Park Conservancy is saddened to announce the loss of Nancy Boyd, a board member and art chair from February 2017- December 2020, however she remained active on the Master Plan Steering Committee. She was a role model, mentor, inspiration, and a friend to us. We have benefited from her intellect, dedication, and generosity. Nancy’s extraordinary commitment to her community and her passion for artistic expression and the natural world (with a particular love of trees) have raised the bar for our service to the community. Nancy strongly believed community led activism was the means to accomplishing goals, always stressing the collective over the individual. She actively propelled projects like Dwelling, Jane’s Walk, ELDER,  and the Chimney Swift Tower

Nancy Boyd loved life and lived hers to the fullest. She collected experiences and friendships – often making unexpected and lasting connections. By seeing beauty in surprising places, she helped open our eyes to new perspectives. She made our world a more beautiful place.

The Nancy Boyd Freedom Park Conservancy Art Fund will be used for curated, collaborative, and site-specific installations in Freedom Park,  Atlanta’s Art Park. In alignment with the vision set out in the Master Plan, art in the park aims to spark curiosity about our history and kindle dialogue between friends and neighbors. These conversations, as well as the joy of experiencing creative expression, help to enrich our appreciation and understanding of community.
